Charles "Gordon" Wofford, 60, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 6, 2009. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 8 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Bro. Brian Smith officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Wofford was born June 24, 1948, in Hamilton County, the son of Charles and Dolly Johnson Wofford.
He was a mine reclamation specialist with the Department of the Interior. He was also a United States Army veteran, having served during Vietnam, and a member of Homesteads Baptist Church. He was a volunteer in association with the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington, DC, a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Delta Society Pet Therapy Association. He loved motorcycling and was a member of the Rolling Thunder. He also enjoyed gardening and liked to hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Wofford of Crossville; parents, Charles and Dolly Wofford of Chattanooga; son, Eddie Wofford of Fort Walton Beach, FL; daughter, Brenda Wofford of Murfreesboro; and sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Bob Burns of Ooltewah.
The family has respectfully asked that donations be made to the Homestead Baptist Church building fund.
